Thank you for visiting us.
Those horses have been selected to meet you since they are horses we trust and our family has known them for a long time as individuals. We do not ride then anymore and this is their new job in their retirement, meeting you and showing you how the Icelandic horse is up close.
Prinsessa
Princess
Prinsessa from Brú is 27 winters old. She has had 4 offspring’s and Blika who is here with her is one of them. She is born and raised here on our farm and is our oldest horse.
Here they are with the other princess from Brú many… many years ago

Blika
Someone who shimmers or gleams (no real english word for it)
Blika from Brú the daughter of Princess and she is 16 winters old and is born and raised here at Brú. She is very sweet and kind. She has been within our family and lived here all her life. She carries the name from her grandmother, who was the mother of Princess and was Margeirs favorite horse.
Vörður
Protectror/Guardian
Vörður is from Neðstabær and is 18 winters old. He is enjoying the senior years here at Brú and he deserves it after life of being an excellent horse to ride. He might seem arrogant but he is really friendly and kind.
About our farm
The Owners are Margeir and Frú Sigríður. They have owned the farm since 1991 and before that Sigríður’s partents lived here. They have breed, tamed and ridden horses since they where young (a long time ago) You might see their children here trying to do something useful or even better… you see their grandchildren running around.

Why you are here
Some time ago people where stopping anywhere in the side of the road and feeding horses random food and petting them even it was not good for them. At some point there where up to 40 cars stopped at the side of the road, feeding and taking pictures of our horses and then Margeir thought enough is enough.
He made this place for people to stop on a safe and free parking. We choose what horses are here and you can only feed them the horse candy provided. By doing this we are keeping you safe and also the horses. And best of all is that you are able to meet those that we think are the most adorable and with the most interesting personalities.
Horse candy
Even we call this candy, it is not like our human candy. This is special mixture of dry grass and vitamins that is actually good for them. Also they love it like you might have noticed.
Why is it good for old horses?
Like you might know, the Icelandic winter can be quite hard at times and old horses who get sick at winter can perish in few days. Here we can monitor them very well and daily since they are not out in the pasture with the other horses and if something happens, we are able to do something straight away.
Hint: If they are not interested in you
Buy candy and see how the react
